Sarah Paulson was stunning on the Emmy red carpet in a sweeping blue dress and natural hair. The Game Change actress (and upcoming American Horror Story star) paired her feminine floral overlay gown with loosely straightened hair. Stylist Lona Vigi tells us, "I drew inspiration from the romanticism of Sarah's dress and decided to balance this design with a chic, modern hair style." She started by blowing out Sarah's hair, placing emphasis on the layers surrounding the face. "I smoothed her hair with a quick flat iron session & applied Serge Normant's 'Meta Sheer Dry Oil' to give the ends a sheen," Vigi says. The results are gorgeous!
Makeup artist Melanie Inglessis gave us the scoop on what went into Paulson's luminous look, too...
FACE: "I used Giorgio Armani Maestro Foundation with a wet beauty blender, so the foundation goes on with a freshness. I then applied Lancôme Effacernes concealer which brightens the eyes and stays on all day! For powder, I went with Shu Uemura Compact powder in Pearl, which has an illuminating effect, and I used a cream to matte-ify her t-zone. To keep the look fresh, I always love to use a coral blusher, so I dabbed L'Oreal Magic Smooth Souffle Blush in Celestial just on the apple of the cheeks."
EYES: "One of the most important aspects of my job is that my client look as flawless on the red carpet as she did when she walked out of the hotel room. I dusted Lancome Colour Design Infinite 24-hour crease free eyeshadow in Timeless Taupe all over Sarah's eyelids to create soft smoky eyes. I then rimmed her eyes with Lancôme Le Crayon Khol in Black Coffee, keeping the definition on her top lid only, as I wanted to keep the lower part of the eye open and fresh. I used Lancôme Color Design eyeshadow in Impress, which is a dark brown/gold, and I worked from the outer corner of the eye to create depth and accentuate the intensity of the eyes. Lastly, I curled the lashes and used two coats of Lancôme Hypnose Star mascara which provides extra volume and is really dark."
LIPS: "I wanted to have a color that would be natural but very flattering with Sarah's dress, so I used Lancôme Rouge in Love in Jolis Matin which is the perfect peach."
