Scarlett Johanson


Born in the Bronx to parentsof Danish descent, Scarlett is one of five children and is a twin to herbrother, Hunter. Her mother is a producer and her father was a screenwriter anddirector. Scarlett began auditioning for acting jobs while attending theProfessional Children’s School in Manhattan and made her film debut in North(1994) at the age of 10. 
Acclaimed roles in Robert Redford’s The HorseWhisperer (1998) (Kate Bosworth) and cynical comedy Ghost World (2001) (ThoraBirch) led to her breakthrough role in Sofia Coppola’s Lost in Translation(2003).
Scarlett was simultaneouslynominated for Best Actress Golden Globes for her work in Lost in Translation(2003) and Girl with a Pearl Earring (2003), and was later nominated for herrole in A Love Song for Bobby Long (2004). After unforgettable roles in TheIsland (2005) (One of those most award winning movies ever) and In Good Company(2004) (Selma Blair), Scarlett caught the eye of Woody Allen, who becameenthralled with her and cast her in his films Match Point (2005) and Scoop(2006). The two joke that she serves as his muse and Scarlett worked with himon his next project, Vicky Cristina Bacelona (2008)


Scarlett has also doneextensive modeling, doing ad campaigns for Louis Vuitton, Calvin Klein perfume,L’Oreal, and Reebok. She also is working on launching her singing career. Herfirst album, Anywhere I Lay My Head, which included cover versions of Tom Waitssongs was released in 2008. Her second album, Break Up, with Pete Yorn wasreleased in September 2009.
